Today’s adventure is a free walking tour through the charming village of Big Sky, Montana—perfect for a virtual stroll or treadmill workout. We’re here in early November, with a crisp chill in the air and a blanket of snow still lingering from a recent storm. The sun is shining, making the snow sparkle and giving us a beautiful day to explore.
Big Sky sits along Highway 191, tucked in the stunning Gallatin Canyon beside the Gallatin River. While most people know Big Sky for its world-class ski resort, today’s walk focuses on the village area, not the slopes. This is the heart of the community, with restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and a variety of accommodations—from cozy motels to luxury vacation rentals.
Although winter sports draw many visitors, Big Sky is just as popular in the summer, with hiking, fishing, rafting, and mountain biking. In this walk, you’ll get a feel for the laid-back vibe of the village streets, framed by snow-covered peaks. I’m hoping to return later this winter for a walking tour of the resort itself.
