Let’s go exploring in Budapest! Today’s virtual walk takes us through a lively part of the city, starting near the Danube and winding through some historic streets toward one of my favorite discoveries—Nyugati Pályaudvar, or Nyugati Train Station.
This beautiful old station really caught my eye with its ornate ironwork and colorful brick facade. Turns out, it wasn’t just my imagination—this place has some serious pedigree. It was actually designed and built in the late 1800s by none other than the Eiffel Company—yes, the same folks behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris. If you’re a fan of architecture or just love old European train stations, this one’s a real gem.
Along the way, we’ll pass the Parliament building, a true icon of Budapest with its grand Gothic Revival style, and make our way toward the WestEnd City Center—a modern shopping mall that sits right next to the historic station, making it a great mix of old and new.
