Today’s Rome tour was another experiment where I didn’t talk. I believe it’s the last one. It also lacks subtitles. I believe next week we return to the one’s where I can’t stop nattering on. The Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy, ascend between the Piazza di Spagna at the bottom and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, with the Trinità dei Monti. The stairway of 135 steps was built when a French diplomat left funds of 20,000 scudi, in 1723–1725, linking the Trinità dei Monti church under the patronage of the Bourbon kings of France, at the top of the steps, and the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See in the Palazzo Monaldeschi at the bottom of the steps. Wow! Rome is amazing and Rome Walking Tours are so much fun to make. We are ending our Italy trip here and we are so glad we did. It earns every bit of its reputation as a great world city. We found the city center easily walkable and packed with famous landmarks and everyday beauty. We had wonderful food and shopped in amazing places. 🇮🇹Vico Equense, Italy Walking Tour A charming cliffside town near Sorrento – 4K City Walks We stayed in Vico Equense for three weeks because it was just a few minutes to Sorrento by train but so much quieter and less tourist based. The views from the clifftops is amazing and you can see Vesuvius easily on a clear day. It’s a great base for touring the area with nice restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores. Ischia Island in Bay of Napoli – Treadmill Walking Scenery and Virtual Tour We moved on from Venice. We stayed right near Castello Aragonese, an ancient castle on a rocky island mountain. Known for it’s geothermal pools and hot springs, the island suffered a major mud slide and flood not long after we left. Though a small island, it has narrow windy roads and the bus drivers really amazed us with their driving skills.
