Today’s walk takes us to the charming little town of Clyde Park, Montana—tucked away in the picturesque Shields Valley, just about 20 minutes north of Livingston along Highway 89. It’s one of those quiet, friendly towns where you can feel the pace of life slow down the moment you step out of the car.
We start our walk in the small town park, which offers a peaceful green space with shade trees and views of the surrounding hills. From there, we wander through Clyde Park’s “Downtown”—a short but sweet stretch that includes a cozy local café, a coffee shop, and a handful of other small businesses that serve the local ranching community and visitors passing through. You’ll also find a nearby dude ranch, offering folks a taste of classic Montana horseback adventure.
Our walk then continues out toward the school, which serves as a central gathering spot for the community, before looping back across Highway 89. From there, we head west toward the beautiful Shields River, one of the region’s lesser-known gems. The wide-open spaces, distant mountain views, and golden summer grasses make this a truly relaxing walk, perfect for treadmill travel or just unwinding at home.
