Hello Walkers,
On today’s walk, we find ourselves on the quiet, snow-covered grounds of the University of Denver (DU). I arrived shortly after a fresh snowfall had blanketed the entire campus—coating the tall trees, softening the paths, and dusting the rooftops of the elegant academic buildings. It was a scene straight out of a winter postcard, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.
The snow added a gentle calm to the morning. The DU campus is incredibly beautiful, and the snow only highlighted the architectural details and careful landscaping. What struck me right away was the balance in design—the buildings feel majestic and refined, but not cold or institutional. Instead, the campus feels welcoming, open, and intentionally designed to blend with both nature and learning.
As I walked the paths between lecture halls, libraries, and student buildings, I was especially impressed by the variety of architectural styles. DU has clearly gone through a period of thoughtful growth, and I suspect a good deal of new construction and restoration has taken place over the last 10–15 years. It all feels cohesive, though, and manages to respect the historic while making room for the modern.
Being here reminded me how a college campus can reflect not only education, but also community and identity. I didn’t expect the DU campus to be quite this stunning, and it felt like a bit of a hidden gem nestled in Denver’s University Park neighborhood. You can tell it’s a place with energy—even in the quiet of a snowy morning, there was a peaceful rhythm to the day.
