It’s another beautiful day out here on the open prairie, and in this walk we keep things simple—but no less stunning. The grasslands have started to green up, a welcome change from the duller tones of early spring, and wildflowers are beginning to peek out from the soil, dotting the hillsides with subtle color. You can feel the shift in the season.
We’ve had several days of rain lately, but now the skies have cleared and the gusty winds have swept the clouds away, leaving behind that crisp, clean post-storm air. The sun breaks through with confidence and lights up the landscape, giving us perfect conditions for a peaceful walk.
This walk is as straightforward as it gets—we follow a simple dirt road that stretches gently uphill, leading us toward the mountains in the distance. There’s something meditative about the rhythm of walking on a quiet back road, the only sounds being your footsteps, the breeze through the grass, and the occasional birdsong.
Every so often, we pause to turn around and take in the view—wide-open skies, rolling hills and endless prairie spreading out behind us like a vast green sea. It’s these little moments of reflection that really ground a walk like this. No crowds, no rush—just space to breathe and enjoy the changing season.
