In this week’s virtual city walks, we visit the city of my origins. It’s a pretty old city for the US, especially since it’s not on the East Coast. However, it is on the Ohio River, where we’ve already walked along the river. Now let’s take a virtual walking tour of the downtown Cincinnati.

I was born in Cincinnati. It’s a great town but has really changed over the last 50 years. I only lived there a short while but it’s still an anchor of our family tree. The downtown Cincinnati area has a few new buildings, a few refurbished buildings, and a lot of old and historic buildings. We’ll see some hotels, restaurants, apartment buildings, Fountain Square, and a whole lot of office space. It’s a Sunday morning so the streets are pretty empty. We miss out on the hum and thrum of a business day downtown but, on the other hand, we have the streets to ourselves. It’s quiet except for some of the tourists in town for a Reds game and folks getting ready to leave after staying downtown for a weekend music festival.
I have to say, I really do enjoy walking among the towering historic buildings. I’d love to go back and spend more time reacquainting myself with the city and really exploring all the great restaurants, things to do downtown that it has to offer.
