Walk through Sequoias at General Grant Grove Trail in Kings Canyon National Park – California 4K
Hello Walkers, Welcome to Kings Canyon National Park, which sits right next to its more famous neighbor, Sequoia National Park, here in the heart of California. I decided to get out early this morning to beat both the crowds and the rising heat—it’s amazing how peaceful these places can be if you catch them before the rush.
Our first destination today is the General Grant Tree Trail, located in the General Grant Grove. If you’re not familiar, this area is home to some of the largest trees on Earth—giant sequoias that have stood here for centuries, some even for thousands of years. There’s a humbling stillness in these groves that really hits you the moment you step into them.
I broke away from the family for a little bit to take this walk on my own. I love moments like this—quiet, early morning, no distractions. Just me, the trail, and these enormous trees. It’s hard to fully capture their scale and presence through a camera, but I do my best to bring you along with me.
These trees are absolutely majestic. There’s something almost otherworldly about them—they don’t feel like regular plants. They remind me a lot of the Ents from *The Lord of the Rings*, those wise, slow-moving tree-like beings. When you’re walking among them, it almost feels like they’re watching over you, like ancient guardians of the forest.
As we go along the trail, you’ll see a few other folks on the path. Having people in the frame really helps show just how massive these sequoias are—you can stand right at the base of one and feel completely dwarfed. It’s a pretty amazing feeling.
