Walking Tour of Prescott Arizona Walking Tour – Historic and Scenic Mountain Town
Hello Walkers,
We recently had the pleasure of spending four lovely days with friends in Prescott, Arizona, and today I’m excited to share a virtual walk through this charming, historic town nestled in the central highlands of the state. Prescott is a place that blends Old West history with modern-day hospitality, and it made for a perfect setting for both relaxing and exploring.
Our walk takes us through Prescott’s Old Town, which has managed to preserve much of its 19th-century charm. The streets are lined with historic buildings, shaded sidewalks, and a welcoming small-town vibe that instantly makes you feel at ease. You’ll notice how much pride the town takes in its history—especially when we pass through the legendary Whiskey Row. Once a rough-and-tumble stretch of saloons, today it’s a lively and colorful part of downtown, full of bars, restaurants, and shops. Many of the original facades have been lovingly restored, and stepping into these establishments really feels like stepping back in time.
Beyond Whiskey Row, we also wander through some residential streets filled with gorgeous old homes, some dating back to the late 1800s. Big porches, classic western architecture, and beautifully maintained gardens make for a picturesque stroll and a great glimpse into the local lifestyle. The surrounding pine forests and the slightly higher elevation make for cooler weather than much of Arizona—another bonus for walking and exploring.
Prescott leans heavily into its Old West roots, but don’t be surprised to find a modern art scene, cozy coffee shops, farmer’s markets, and live music scattered throughout town. Tourism plays a big role here, and the town does it well—friendly people, beautiful surroundings, and lots of interesting little corners to discover.
So whether you’re here for a treadmill workout, a bit of weight loss motivation, or just a peaceful virtual wander through somewhere new, I hope this walk helps you feel refreshed and inspired.
