Virtual Vacation City Walk in Hyeres, France
Hello Walkers,
Today’s City Walk brings us to the sun-soaked beauty of Hyères, France, perched along the Mediterranean coast in the heart of the French Riviera. This walk takes place on a bright spring morning, and we begin high above the town at the ancient hilltop fortress, the Château d’Hyères, which offers sweeping views across the terra-cotta rooftops and out to the shimmering sea. From there, we wind our way down narrow stone lanes into the historic old town, filled with pastel buildings, flowering balconies, and centuries of Provençal charm.
Even though it was only 9 a.m., the sun was already warm—reminding me that this part of southern France gets more than 300 sunny days a year. The early morning quiet was interrupted only by the occasional café owner setting out chairs or a scooter buzzing through the alleyways. These quiet, lived-in streets are what I love most about walking in smaller European towns—there’s always some surprise around the corner.
For this walk, I filmed using my GoPro Session paired with a gimbal, still fine-tuning my setup and testing different gear combinations to get you the smoothest and most immersive experience possible. Hyères may not be as famous as Nice or Marseille, but it has a unique blend of medieval heritage, tropical gardens, and coastal light that makes it well worth a visit—or a virtual stroll from home.
