Update on Livingston, Montana – Spring weather with flags and raging river
Hello Walkers,
It’s Memorial Day here in beautiful Livingston, Montana, and the town is looking especially reflective and heartfelt. The American flags are flying proudly, lining the streets and fields in honor of those who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s a time of remembrance, and I wanted to share a walk that captures both the solemnity and quiet beauty of the day.

We begin our walk downtown, where the local Memorial Day tributes are on full display—including the rows of white crosses and flags placed in honor of the fallen. It’s a moving sight that speaks to the deep sense of community and gratitude that lives here.
From there, we make our way through Sacagawea Park, where spring is fully underway. Goslings wobble along the grass, trees are leafed out in fresh green, and the air carries the scent of wet earth and blooming life. The Yellowstone River is running high and fast today—swollen with meltwater and recent rains—but the skies hold off just long enough for us to finish our walk before the next shower arrives.

This walk is a short one, but it’s packed with meaning. It offers a chance to pause, reflect, and pay tribute, while also appreciating the natural beauty and renewal happening all around us. There’s a certain quiet dignity to the combination of flags flapping in the wind and a river running strong beneath overcast skies.

To all who have served, and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice—thank you. And to the families who have borne that loss, our hearts are with you today and always.
Thanks for walking with me on this meaningful day.
Keep on steppin’,
—Henry
