5K City Walks: Valladolid Mexico – Colonial City in the Yucatan virtual treadmill walk

On our travels through Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, we made a stop in the charming colonial city of Valladolid—and I’m so glad we did. It’s a peaceful, affordable little gem filled with rich history, colorful architecture, and friendly locals.
Vailladolid Cathedral on the town squareIn this 360° virtual walk, I’ll take you through some of the highlights. Valladolid is known for its beautiful colonial landmarks, including the baroque-style San Gervasio Cathedral and the 16th-century Convent of San Bernardino of Siena, with its stunning wooden altarpiece. Just off the main square, you’ll find shops, cafés, and museums like Casa de los Venados, which features vibrant Mexican folk art.
Not far from town are several incredible cenotes—natural sinkhole pools formed in limestone. Cenote Zací is right in Valladolid, while the underground cenotes Samulá and X’Kekén are just a short drive away. And of course, if you’re up for a bigger adventure, the ancient Mayan city of Chichén Itzá is just to the west.
