Livingston Montana USA – Meyers View Trail Virtual Treadmill Scenery Walk – 4K City Walks – March 28, 2020

Hello Walkers,

Thanks for joining me today. We’re continuing to get out and walk as long as it’s safe to do so. Fresh air, movement, and a bit of connection—virtual or otherwise—can make a real difference, especially during uncertain times like these.

Today’s walk is along the Meyers View Trail, just across the Yellowstone River from Livingston, Montana—where we walked last week. This 4K Virtual Treadmill Scenery Walk takes us on a peaceful route just a short distance from town. We start by heading over the bridge and out toward the trail that runs alongside the river, not far from the hospital.

This stretch of trail has become one of my favorites. It’s a bit quieter, and there’s always something interesting to see. We pass by a couple of unique art installations placed along the path, and as we climb the small rise, we’re rewarded with a lovely view of Livingston nestled below and the surrounding Absaroka mountains in the distance. On the way back, we take a different route to catch a few more pieces of community art that give the area a bit of creative flair.

Keep your eyes open on this one—you might spot a few Sandhill cranes foraging in the cow pasture and, if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a quick glimpse of a red fox dashing across the field.

I also tried something new on this walk: a separate audio recorder to help cut down on the wind noise that’s so common out here. I hope it makes for a better experience in your ears as well as your eyes.

Just to give a little context, this walk was recorded during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, there were just 2 confirmed cases here in Park County, with higher numbers over in Gallatin County—Bozeman area—and a total of 171 across Montana. We were under a shelter-in-place order, but thankfully, outdoor walks were still allowed as long as we maintained proper distancing. It was a time to be cautious, but also to find peace and grounding where we can.
