It’s a grey day but we return to Belgrade, MT, the biggest city in MT that isn’t a county seat. Just 10 miles from Bozeman, Belgrade has it’s own charm and history.
Belgrade used to be a agricultural center. It’s still a fairly small city with 12K people but it’s dwarfed by the growth of Bozeman. In fact, it used to be the place where a lot of people would buy homes to get lower home prices. Now the spillover from the Bozeman market has driven up prices here as well. The airport is also located in Belgrade and they’ve recently made it much easier to get there from the highway with new exits and traffic circles.
The small downtown section of Belgrade has several coffee shops and restaurants as well as some nice shops. I recommend the Mint as a great place to eat in Belgrade.
The residential areas spread out to the north and west of downtown with a commercial area of strip malls and box stores just west. The neighborhoods are quiet, though this was a Saturday morning so I wouldn’t expect it to be too busy. They are also building a new library next to the splash park. Belgrade is a great little town.
