Exploring Tillamook, Oregon

Oregon has so many great state parks and public access along the coast and Tillamook is minutes away from several. The city is situated midway along the coast of the Pacific Ocean.  With a population of just over 5000 people, this little urban gem of the Pacific Northwest shows off wonderful old buildings and at least one brewery. Also, it’s home to the Tillamook company that makes cheese, yogurt, and ice cream.  You can take tours there and sample the wares in their shop.

It’s a primary tourist stop as well as the airplane museum south of town. The downtown area is relatively small and unpretentious and the surrounding neighborhoods have spacious lots with charming little houses. With several coastal state parks and beaches nearby, the town has great potential for those looking for quiet. (see links below). This isn’t a party town but it does have the Pelican Brewery which serves good beers and food inside and outside. It also has a courtyard with food trucks and picnic tables.
